Metropolitan Philaret of Minsk and Slutsk, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus and co-chairman of the All-Russian organizing committee for the celebration of the anniversary of St. Seraphim of Sarov, along with the hierarchs of the Russian Orthodox Church who arrived for the Seraphim festivities in Kursk, consecrated a chapel in the name of St. Seraphim. It was built in the grounds of the Sergiev-Kazan Cathedral on the site of the former estate of the Mashnin family, the saint's parents. Kursk icon painters created an icon for the chapel titled "Healing of the Youth Prokhor Mashnin by the Icon of the Mother of God 'Sign' of Kursk-Korennaya." The composition of the icon is based on real events: near this place, during a procession with the icon of the Mother of God, the mortally ill son of Prokhor Mashnin was brought to the miraculous image, and the illness receded. Additionally, sculptor V. Klykov created a bas-relief of St. Seraphim of Sarov, which adorned the facade.

On the territory of the Sergiev-Kazan Cathedral, the consecration of a canopy over the place where the youth Prokhor miraculously survived a fall from the under-construction church also took place. This canopy, erected by the foundation of St. Andrei Rublev, is a gift from His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia to the city of Kursk, as reported by the Press Service of the Kursk Diocese. The inscription on the canopy reads: "In this place in 1761, during the construction of the church, the seven-year-old youth Prokhor Mashnin, future St. Seraphim of Sarov, fell from the bell tower and, with God's help, remained alive and unharmed. In honor of the 250th anniversary of the birth of St. Seraphim of Sarov, this canopy, a gift from His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia, was erected by the efforts of the Russian Architectural Heritage Foundation named after St. Andrei Rublev, according to the project of architect O.I. Zhurin, and consecrated on July 20, 2004." The canopy is adorned with a star at the place of the fall of the youth Prokhor and an icon of the Mother of God "Tenderness," which was deeply revered by St. Seraphim of Sarov and before which he passed away.
