The stone church, cold to the touch, was built in 1838 with funds from the parishioners. It has two altars: the main one is dedicated to the Protection of the Holy Virgin, and the side altar is dedicated to the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. The parish was established in 1837. The Iver Icon of the Mother of God and Saint Panteleimon, brought from Mount Athos in 1876, are also venerated here.

In early June 2006, a cross was erected at the site of the lost church, and soon the construction of the chapel began. In 2007-2008, the chapel in honor of the Protection of the Holy Virgin was built and consecrated. During an archpastoral visit to the Mordovian deanery on November 11, 2012, Bishop Theodosius of Tambov and Michurinsk visited Borisovka and conducted the rite of minor consecration of the new Protection Church and small bell tower.
