Near the square by the city Palace of Culture, a monument has been erected in honor of all who died in the wars of the 20th century. Its opening took place in 2000, and the funds for it were raised by the city's residents. The monument is designed in the shape of a chapel: a bright blue dome topped with a Christian cross, and the snow-white columns contrast with the black marble slabs on which the inscription reads: "To our fellow warriors who gave their lives for the homeland. They went to death but gained immortality." At the base of the monument, there is a memorial plaque dedicated to the participants of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster.
