A large brick chapel with one dome, having a square shape, is covered with a low tent roof with slopes and is complemented by a small narthex. It was built near the city cemetery on the site of the lost Protection Church.

The Church of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos had altars dedicated to All Saints and Mitrophan. This stone three-altar cemetery church was built in 1855 with funds from the parishioners of the Sretensky Cathedral, replacing the previous single-altar wooden church. It was attached to the Sretensky Cathedral.
