Chapel of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Dunilovo

Фото 1
The building is located in the southern part of the market square. It was constructed in the early 19th century as part of the Pokrovskaya church complex and was expanded in the middle of the century with an addition on the northern side. The walls of the building are made of brick and whitewashed. This modest structure is executed in the style of late classicism. The main volume, which has a semicircular apse and a complex domed roof, is joined by an equally sized addition. The western facade, with a wide arched opening leading into the chapel, is designed as a two-bay arched portico with archivolts resting on paired columns. The rectangular bases of the archivolts are adorned with panels. The facades of both parts of the building are topped with triangular pediments above a wide profiled cornice and the archivolts of the arches. The corners of the building and the apse wall are highlighted by pilasters. The interior decoration has been lost.
