The appearance of the icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker occurred in the village of Promzino in 1552. About 50 years later, in 1600, a small wooden chapel was built on Nikolskaya Mountain, where the image of the saint was placed. It stood for over 200 years, and in 1820 it was replaced by a new wooden structure. In 1862, a stone chapel was erected. The miraculous icon was taken out on May 9 for a prayer service for pilgrims.

In 1996, a new chapel was built, which still exists today.

Twice a year, in January and May, on St. Nicholas Day, thousands of people from all over Russia come to Nikolskaya Mountain and the holy springs.

If you walk through the forest from Nikolina Mountain for about a kilometer, you can find the holy spring Silver, consecrated in honor of St. George the Victorious. This spring has been revered for a long time, and at the beginning of the last century, a chapel already stood here. Now the spring is well-maintained. Two more springs are located a bit further, about two kilometers from Nikolina Mountain. The farthest spring was consecrated relatively recently. Its story is as follows: when the true spring, consecrated in honor of the Kazan Mother of God, looked like a small pond, a children's camp was built on this site during Soviet times. The initiators from Mordovia consecrated another spring nearby, as access to the camp was prohibited, and a new place for worship was needed where people could take water and pray. The second spring is located very close. These holy wells can be reached by transport along a dirt road from the settlement or walked along a path by the river, enjoying the local beauty.
