The village of Tarakanovo is located in the Sokolsky district. According to information provided by Andrey Yershov, behind the village are the Golikovskaya chapel and the Golikov springs. These places are associated with Macarius of Zheltovodsk and Unzha, who passed through here in June 1439, fleeing from the Tatars after the destruction of the monastery near Nizhny Novgorod.
