Chapel of Ludmila of Bohemia in Michurinsk

Фото 1
A stone chapel in the shape of a cube with five domes under a four-pitched roof has been erected at the city cemetery. The corners are adorned with blind domes, and a narthex is located on the western side. The project was developed by the architectural workshop 'AvArch' under the guidance of architect Boris Nikolaevich Averochkin.

In 2008, stones brought from the sacred Mount Athos in Eastern Greece were laid at the foundation of the chapel. The cross on the chapel was installed on May 4, 2010. On September 29, 2014, Bishop Germogen of Michurinsk and Morshansk conducted the rite of minor consecration of the chapel dedicated to Saint Martyr Ludmila of Bohemia. Ludmila is venerated as the patroness of the Czech Republic, as well as grandmothers, mothers, and Christian teachers. After the consecration, the bishop awarded Mikhail Olegovich Kornev, the general director of LLC 'Kornev Group' and a member of the regional Duma, with an archiepiscopal diploma for his participation in the construction and improvement of the chapel.

The chapel was built by an entrepreneur in memory of his late mother, Lyudmila Gavrilovna Korneva, a teacher at the Michurinsk Pedagogical Institute. It is affiliated with the Church of the Prophet Elijah in Michurinsk, where a relic of the saint is kept.
