Chapel-Spring at the Holy Source of the Savior in Tutayev

Фото 1
In 1749, by the order of Saint Arsenius Matseevich, the icon of the All-Merciful Savior was transported from the Resurrection Cathedral in Borisoglebsk to Rostov Veliky. According to tradition, it was painted by the venerable Dionysius Glushitsky in the early 15th century. Initially, the icon was located in the dome of a wooden church dedicated to the holy princes Boris and Gleb, and because of this, it had impressive dimensions, three meters in height.

The icon remained in the Archierial house for 44 years, and only in 1793 were the residents of Borisoglebsk allowed to return it to the cathedral. With great joy, they carried the relic from Rostov, and upon reaching the settlement, they stopped by the Kovat River to wash off the dust of the road. At the place where the icon was installed, a spring of pure spring water gushed forth, which has survived to this day and is considered holy and healing. Now this spring and the surrounding area are protected as a natural monument.
