On Saturday, July 13, 2019, on the day of the village of Petrovskoye, the chapel of John the Baptist was consecrated. It is located at the entrance to Petrovskoye from the direction of Moscow, to the right of the M8 highway. The initiators and sponsors of the construction were local residents Alexander Balashov and Denis Kukushkin.

The chapel was consecrated by the archpriest of the Petrovsky district parishes, the rector of the Peter and Paul Church in Petrovsk, Priest Alexey Pakin. The ceremony was attended by the head of the district Sergey Shokin, the head of the Petrovskoye rural settlement Andrey Pestov, deputies of the Yaroslavl Regional Duma, and local residents.

The idea of building a roadside chapel came to the initiators after a trip to the Vologda region, where such structures are common. Denis Kukushkin noted that they have a large plot for a farming enterprise, and they decided to do a good deed not only for themselves but also for others. The chapel will be open for visits year-round during daylight hours.

Priest Alexey Pakin explained why the chapel is dedicated to John the Baptist. In the center of Petrovsk, there once stood the Trinity Cathedral, which is now known as the local House of Culture. Only fragments of the church remain, and it had two chapels: in honor of the Bogolyubskaya Mother of God and John the Baptist. When receiving the blessing for the construction of the chapel, Metropolitan Panteleimon of Yaroslavl and Rostov asked whom it would be dedicated to, and it was decided that it would be John the Baptist. The word 'Baptist' translates as 'forerunner,' and this place will provide travelers with an opportunity to stop, rest their souls, reflect, and pray. We hope that this place will always be in demand.
