Chapel of Ilya Muromets in Karacharovo

Фото 1
In Karacharovo, under the hill where the Trinity Church rises, there is a chapel dedicated to Ilya Muromets. This hexagonal wooden chapel, also known as Ilyinskaya, is associated with the area considered the birthplace of the legendary hero. It was built in 2007 over a spring that has been known to local residents since ancient times.

Previously, there was a chapel on four wooden pillars at this site, which fell into disrepair over time and ceased to function by the 1960s. The new chapel, dedicated to the venerable Ilya Muromets, has one dome with a cross. Inside, there are icons, and candles are lit.

After the restoration of the monastery, Orthodox believers constantly visit the chapel and the nearby spring with a bathing area. It is believed that the holy water has healing properties, helps to heal many ailments, fills one with vitality, and strengthens faith.
