The revered icon of the Mglin Mother of God Odigitria is one of the shrines of the Bryansk region. In its honor, a spring was consecrated, located in the city of Mglin, Bryansk region, on Voroshilov Street, near the city bus station. The bus station is situated at the foot of the Elevation Mountain, where in 1699 a wooden church was built in honor of the Elevation of the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord. The church burned down in 1761, was restored in 1856, but was dismantled in the first third of the 20th century.

Over time, a spring appeared near the Cross Elevation Church, which had not been known before. No written evidence of its origin has survived, but popular memory dates this event to the early 19th century. Local residents arranged the spring, making a log structure and a trough, which they periodically updated. The water from the spring was used for irrigating lands and bathing children. In case of illness, clothes were moistened in this consecrated water and worn on the body.

During the Soviet era, when the churches of Mglin land fell into decline, the spring was forgotten. In 1961, after the closure of the Assumption Cathedral, the spring fell into disrepair. Its existence was only recalled by a polluted stream and ruined footbridges.

In 2008, with the blessing of the archpriest Vasily Klimchuk, the believers began to restore the spring. On January 19, 2008, during the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, the first water blessing service was held here. The spring was cleared of debris, a small canopy-chapel was erected over it, a paved path was laid, and the area was improved. In 2010, the spring was consecrated by the rector of the Assumption Cathedral, Archpriest Vasily Klimchuk, in honor of the Mglin icon of the Mother of God, known as 'Odigitria.' This image has long been a priceless shrine of the Mglin deanery.
