In 1905, a terrible fire occurred in the village of Mokeevo, resulting in only two houses surviving. In memory of the tragedy and in honor of the deceased and the injured, the remaining residents built a small stone chapel in the center of the village, dedicated to the icon of the Mother of God 'Burning Bush.'
