On the territory of the Feodorovsky Women's Monastery in Pereslavl-Zalessky, one can see churches and buildings that have preserved the atmosphere of Russian medieval times. The monastery is surrounded by a stone wall, built in 1681 to replace the previous wooden fence. This wall has only partially survived and was not intended for defense, so it lacks loopholes and passages typical of fortifications. One can enter the monastery through the Holy Gates. Initially, it was planned to build a gate church above these gates, but due to a lack of funds, the project was never realized. Only in the 2000s, during restoration, a single-tier bell tower was erected above the Holy Gates, fulfilling a long-standing idea. In the 17th century, a chapel-well was built near the gates.

The brick chapel over the well, designed in the shape of an octagon on a square base, is located at the northern Holy Gates of the monastery. Although it is attributed to the 17th century in literature, its architectural features indicate that it was rebuilt in the 19th century.
