Chapel of the Twelve Apostles in Vad

Фото 1
Among the main spiritual attractions of the Vad region are the holy springs dedicated to the 12 apostles. They are located just a few kilometers from the village of Vad towards the village of Zelenye Gory. All twelve springs are situated in a ravine, and each has its own history and legend.

It is known that mentions of these holy springs existed as early as the 19th century. Locals not only visited them but also improved the area around. At that time, a chapel was built in the ravine, where water blessing services were regularly held. However, during the Soviet period, the springs were abandoned, and only one of them continued to provide its holy water to people.

The revival of the springs began in the 1990s. A road was laid, the chapel was restored, and a new gazebo was built. Since 2000, the restoration of all 12 springs has commenced. Near the road, an arch with the inscription "Holy Springs" appeared, making them easier to find. Each spring is named after one of the 12 apostles. A 13th spring was also established, named in honor of the Apostle Paul, revered by all Christians. In 2002, the complex "Holy Springs of the Twelve Apostles" was consecrated.
