In the village of Pavlovsk in the 17th-18th centuries, as recorded by the Patriarchal Treasury Office in 1628, there were two churches: one in honor of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and the other, the Transfiguration of the Lord. In 1728, a new wooden structure was built to replace the old wooden church of the Transfiguration; when it became unusable is unknown.

The stone church in honor of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross was constructed between 1820 and 1824 through the efforts of the parishioners and landowner Ragozina, alongside which a stone bell tower was erected. The church has three altars: one in the cold section in honor of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and two in the warm chapels, in honor of the Transfiguration of the Lord and the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God.
