The chapel was built in 2007 at the burial site of the elder hieromonk Apollonius of Murom, known as God's Servant.
Hieromonk Apollonius, in the world Alexey Runov, decided in his youth to dedicate his life to serving God. He received initial spiritual education at the Pereslavl Spiritual School and spent three years in obedience at the Lukyanov Desert and Makhriщ Monastery. Until the age of 60, he worked as a psalmist in rural churches of the Vladimir Diocese. In his mature years, he joined the brotherhood of the Murom Blagoveshchensky Monastery, where he took monastic vows and the name Apollonius. In 1893, he was ordained as a hieromonk, and in 1902, he became the spiritual father of the monastery. Hieromonk Apollonius passed away on November 30, 1914, and was buried at this site.
