The chapel was built at the site where springs have flowed since ancient times. According to local residents, there were dugouts and cells in Keleynyy Dol and on Krasnaya Gora, where Old Believers lived and prayed in hiding from persecution, preserving their faith and the traditions of the two-finger sign.

In memory of these people and their steadfast faith, a chapel was built in 2005 at the site of the springs, and a bathing area was arranged. Father Alexiy from the Koverninskaya Orthodox Church of the Ascension of the Lord conducted a prayer service, blessing this place and the water. The spring was named in honor of Saint Alexander.
