Фото 1
The bust, made of cast iron, was created based on the model by Smolensk sculptor Lyudmila Yelchaninova. During the Patriotic War of 1812, Raevsky led the 7th Infantry Corps, which was part of the 2nd Western Army. On August 4, 1812, he organized and directed the defense of Smolensk and its surroundings. Throughout the day, Raevsky's fifteen-thousand-strong corps successfully repelled attacks from significantly superior forces of the French army.

Nikolai Nikolayevich Raevsky passed away in 1829 and was buried in the family tomb in the village of Razumovka in the Kyiv province.

In Smolensk, one of the streets is named in honor of General Raevsky.
