In Nizhny Novgorod, at the beginning of Minin Street, in front of the "First" house, a sculptural bust of Kuzma Minin was installed in 1955. This monument, created by Nizhny Novgorod sculptor A.V. Kikin, is located in the central part of the city, not far from the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin and a few hundred meters from the Volga River.
The sculpture became the second monument dedicated to the hero of the Time of Troubles, when the Russian people fought against Polish and Swedish interventions. The first monument was laid in 1913 in honor of the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty, but its completion was hindered by World War I and subsequent events related to the rise of the Bolsheviks.
