Gabriel Glikman decided to make a generous gift to the casino in Wiesbaden by presenting an expressionist bust of Dostoevsky in honor of his 225th anniversary. Since 1996, this bust has been located in the resort park in a corner of Nice.

Usually, monuments are erected for achievements and feats, but there are exceptions. One such case is the installation of a bust of Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky in Wiesbaden, Germany. The reason is that he lost all his money in the local casino. On February 3, 1997 (although the plaque states 1996), sculptor Gavriil Glikman gifted a bust of Dostoevsky made of gray granite on a pink pedestal. This gift coincided with the 175th anniversary of the writer's birth.

Dostoevsky came to Wiesbaden to treat his epilepsy but soon found himself in the casino, where he lost all his money (120 thalers or 3,000 rubles). In his letters, he asked his first wife for money, but after several times, she refused. Ultimately, after another loss, Dostoevsky took a loan from a publishing house, committing to write a new novel in a short time.

Thus, the novel "The Gambler" was born. In a sign of respect, the casino named one of its halls after Dostoevsky. Although other famous personalities, such as Elvis Presley and Mikhail Gorbachev, have visited the casino, the halls have not been renamed since.
