Tsar Liberator Boulevard, previously known as Istanbul Jadesi until 1889 and Russian Boulevard in the 1970s-1980s, is located in the center of Sofia. It stretches from Eagle Bridge in the east to Alexander I Square. This boulevard, along with Vasil Levski Boulevard and Rakovski Street, is one of the key transport arteries of the city. The St. Kliment Ohridski metro station is located on the boulevard. After its renaming in 1889, the Constantinople Road became Tsar Liberator Boulevard and soon acquired the appearance befitting the status of the main city thoroughfare.
