Today marks the 60th birthday of Dmitry Vrubel, a Russian artist living in Berlin. His work on the Berlin Wall, which divided Germany for nearly three decades, has become one of the most famous graffiti pieces in the world. The painting titled "Lord! Help Me Survive This Deadly Love," also known as "Brotherly Kiss," depicts a kiss between the General Secretary of the CPSU Leonid Brezhnev and the leader of the GDR Erich Honecker.

Dmitry Vrubel calls himself a "political painter." He fundamentally does not work on commission and does not paint from life, preferring to use photographs. The artist believes that the phrase "in the morning in the newspaper, in the evening in the verse" returns the original meaning to the concept of "contemporary art." He also values apartment exhibitions, considering them ideal: "For me, an apartment gallery is the ideal. From the artist's perspective, not the gallerist's: I exhibit what I want, when I want."
