Botkin Trail (Crimea)

Фото 1
It is no secret that the climate of Crimea has a positive effect on human health. However, this was not known immediately, and in honor of the person who made this discovery, one of the walking routes that contributes to the improvement of physical and mental well-being is named after him. We are talking about the Botkin Trail in Yalta.

Dr. S. P. Botkin was one of the first in Russia to promote the idea of treatment using natural factors. He noted the healing properties of the Crimean climate and became one of the founders of the health culture of the peninsula.

The trail was laid out at the initiative of the Yalta Mountain Club. Work began in 1901 and was completed a year later. The name of the trail was chosen in honor of Dr. Botkin S. P., who highly valued the healing properties of Crimea.

The trail starts in a pine forest, rich in fresh air. Along the way, you can encounter lizards basking in the sun. Next is the Ai-Dimitriy stream, where you can rest and wash your face with cool water. In spring, the stream is full, but in summer it almost dries up.

After about 20-30 minutes of walking along the trail, you can see two waterfalls, Lower and Upper Yauzlar, under which a wooden bridge passes. Here you can take a break and enjoy the sounds of water and the singing of birds.

The most challenging section of the trail begins after the Upper Yauzlar waterfall and leads to the top of the Stavri-Kaya rock. The trail here is gentle and well-trodden, but there are also branches that are not recommended for beginners due to their steepness. Benches for resting are installed in this area. On the Kush-Kaya rock, there is an observation deck where you can take unforgettable photos.
