The Large Stone Greenhouse, one of the most unique structures of the museum-reserve, was built in 1763. The project of this building was developed by the serf architect Fyodor Argunov.

In Russian garden-park ensembles of the second half of the 18th century, grand and greenhouse orangeries were essential elements. They were used to grow exotic and heat-loving plants, such as decorative and fragrant flowers, laurels, citrus, coffee and peach trees, palms, pineapples, cacti, and orchids. In summer, these plants were displayed outdoors, decorating the park alleys. The crowns of exotic trees were shaped into various whimsical forms, such as ships or animals.

Additionally, the greenhouse served as a place for receiving guests. In the center of the Large Stone Greenhouse was a "vauxhall," a small round hall for dancing with choirs for musicians. The side parts of the building contained game rooms and the gardener's residence.

Today, the halls of the greenhouse house the exhibition of the Museum of Ceramics. This building is the largest pavilion of the palace-park ensemble of the estate.
