Hospital Building of the Blagoveshchensky Monastery in Nizhny Novgorod

Фото 1
The building dates back to the 17th century. It originally bordered the northeastern part of the monastery territory, adjacent to the stone buildings and the gate church of John the Theologian.

Initially, the structure consisted of two two-story chambers, separated by vaulted corridors, of which only one has survived. The first floor of this chamber featured a single-column room, exemplifying the modular construction method common among ancient Russian architects. The upper floor has a vaulted ceiling with arches above the openings.
