In 1809, a wooden hospital building with cells for sick and elderly monks, as well as a church dedicated to the icon of the Holy Mother of God "Three-Handed" was constructed in the southwestern part of the monastery. This building was erected thanks to donations from Mrs. Ragozina, who supported almost all the monasteries in the Oryol province. The church was small, like a house church, and had simple decor.

In 1861, due to its dilapidation, this building was dismantled and a new wooden structure was built on a stone foundation with an iron roof. It housed a church in honor of the Protection of the Holy Mother of God, as at the same time a new five-domed church was laid in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Three-Handed."
