The Bogoroditsky Skete in Vatoma

Фото 1
The Bogoroditsky skete of the Blagoveshchensky Men's Monastery, dedicated to the icon "The Inexhaustible Cup," is located near the village of Rozhnovo in the Borsky District and has been operating since 2000. It is situated in a forest, about a kilometer from the Bor-Makaryevo road, on a vast territory that was once a military base, leaving behind partially destroyed buildings and infrastructure.

The spiritual life in the skete began with the construction of a church in 2004 in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "The Inexhaustible Cup." A beautiful wooden church occupies a central place here, serving as the main architectural adornment and spiritual center of the skete.

The main economic activity is related to the restoration of the destroyed buildings and ensuring survival, especially during the winter period. The skete's premises are heated using electricity. Due to the lack of a permanent clergyman and congregation, the residents have to find ways to feed themselves, which is difficult without outside assistance. Currently, the skete is largely supported by the monastery, although it is trying to find internal reserves to address economic issues, which are insufficient. The possibility of providing assistance from the skete is limited due to the partially destroyed legacy from the military base and a lack of funds.
