The museum opened on June 12, 2002. Currently, its main collection includes 1656 items. The museum features a small collection of archaeological and paleontological finds, including arrowheads, fragments of a vessel from the 15th century BC, pieces of chainmail, a ketmen, a halberd, a shark tooth from the Cretaceous period, belemnites, ammonites, and other exhibits.

The museum's collection also holds a small collection of samovars, furniture from the 19th and early 20th centuries, as well as an ethnographic collection. Among the holdings, one can find an interesting collection of ancient books, pre-revolutionary editions of magazines and books, a numismatic collection, and other rarities.
