The Arzamas Convent is one of the three convents of the Holy Trinity Serafimo-Diveevo Monastery and is located in the city of Arzamas. It includes two churches: the Church of the Nativity of Christ and the Church in honor of the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God.

The Smolensk church was built in 1797. The Church of the Nativity of Christ was constructed between 1845 and 1852 based on the design by architect Konstantin Ton.

In 1939, the Church of the Nativity of Christ was closed, and its building was handed over to a bakery factory. In 1981, the building was transferred to the Gorky Special Scientific and Production Workshop, after which reconstruction began.

In 1998, the ruined complex of the Smolensk church was transferred to the monastery.

On January 17, 2011, Archbishop Georgy consecrated the third chapel in the Church of the Nativity of Christ in honor of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker and the Holy Martyr Eudocia. In the same year, the restoration of the Smolensk church began.

On August 14, 2016, on the day of the celebration of the Origin of the Honorable Wood of the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, the church in honor of the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God was consecrated. The rite of the Great Consecration was conducted by Metropolitan Georgy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas. On May 19, 2018, a chapel in the name of the Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian was consecrated.
