The Artemovsk City Historical Museum was founded in 1967 and opened its doors to visitors in 1969. Its first director was Ivan Ivanovich Antropov. In 1978, a significant second phase in the museum's history began, associated with its revival. Olga Markovna Martynova, now an honorary citizen of Artemovsk and the author of several local history books, was involved in collecting funds and organizing a new historical exhibition, which opened in 1982.

In 1984, the museum's work was highly appreciated, and it was awarded the title of "people's museum." Since 1989, the museum has been a state institution, and since 1997, a municipal institution. In January 1996, a new exhibition hall of 111 square meters was added to the museum, allowing for an expansion of cultural and educational activities and strengthening its role as a historical and cultural center.

The museum's historical exhibition includes several sections. The "Living Antiquity" section features a collection of furniture in the Art Nouveau style from the 19th-20th centuries: a carved sideboard with a collection of antique porcelain, a sofa upholstered in crocodile skin, a bookcase with pre-revolutionary editions, a ladies' vanity table, a lumber table, wall clocks from the "Brothers Chetunov" company, and a mirror in a carved frame. The section "The Civil War in Yegorshino: Reds and Whites" covers the pre-revolutionary and revolutionary periods, the civil war, the defense of the Yegorshino station, the combat path of the "Red Eagles" regiment, the Kamyshlov regiment, Soviet history of the 1920s-1930s, and Comrade Artem, after whom the city is named. The section "In Work and Battle. Artemovsk Residents in the Rear and on the Frontlines of the Great Patriotic War" is dedicated to fellow countrymen, Heroes of the Soviet Union, full holders of the Order of Glory, military sanitary train No. 227, and rear enterprises. The section "Temple of Memory" features works by A.N. Kargapolov. The section "Crowned by Naval Glory" tells about participant of the Peterhof landing P.L. Dobrynin and hydroacoustician of the submarine "K-21" A.A. Smetanin, and also includes models of modern military and ancient sailing ships, naval military uniforms, and authentic items from the ship. The section "Treasures of the Earth" contains a collection of minerals and fossil remains of ancient animals, such as mammoths and dinosaurs, as well as photographs of natural monuments in the Artemovsk region.
