The museum-reserve 'Ludorvai' is located on the site of the former Ilyinsky settlement, in a small village near the Izhevsk factory, founded in 1885. By 1920, 78 people lived here, engaged in agriculture, raising livestock and poultry, and supplying products to the factory. Over time, the settlement became deserted, and in 1984 it was decided to open a museum-reserve dedicated to traditional Russian and Udmurt architecture, lifestyle, and customs.

On the territory of the former settlement, the street layout and several peasant houses have been preserved. Samples of wooden architecture from other places have also been brought here, including a barn, a granary, a windmill, a bathhouse, and a kuala, a family shrine for prayers and rituals. The museum-reserve, originally named 'Ilinka', opened in 1997.

In 2003, it was renamed 'Ludorvai'. The museum's territory is divided into sectors where visitors can learn about Russian culture, lifestyle, and traditions of the central, northern, and southern Udmurts, as well as the Besermyans.

In the Russian sector, there is a volost administration house, a traditional wooden estate with outbuildings, and a reading hut where peasants in the late 19th and early 20th centuries could read, buy books, learn literacy in adult courses, and children could attend Sunday school. In Udmurt estates, one can see ancient dishes, household items, woven carpets and mats, traditional carts, and clothing.

A separate sector is dedicated to the windmill, where the grinding mechanism with millstones and wooden utensils used in the work have been recreated.

The museum offers thematic and overview tours. Workshops are dedicated to ancient crafts: here you can learn pottery, work on a potter's wheel, lace weaving, and cooking various fillings for pies and pastries. The interactive program 'Look at Our Outfit!' tells about the history and features of Udmurt costumes, while thematic lectures cover the origins of the Udmurt people and language, the nature of the republic, national cuisine, and calendar holidays.

Additionally, 'Ludorvai' organizes celebrations such as New Year, Maslenitsa, Peter's Day, Honey Spas, and others, introducing guests to the traditions and customs of Udmurtia.
