On May 14, 1999, the Archaeological Museum opened, becoming the first branch of the Novomoskovsk Historical and Art Museum.

The museum has two exhibition halls. One of them is dedicated to the ancient history of the region, from the Stone Age to the 17th century. The exhibition includes over 500 exhibits collected by Novomoskovsk archaeologist Oleg Zaidov.

In the small hall, new thematic exhibitions open every month. Here, you can see works by children from youth clubs, paintings, graphics, decorative and applied arts, and items from private collections.

The museum organizes themed evenings for different groups of the population, including students, residents of boarding schools, people with disabilities, and the elderly. Monthly meetings of the Novomoskovsk Literary Association are also held, which includes poets and writers from various cities in the Tula region.

The Archaeological Museum conducts interactive and educational programs, workshops on creating Russian peasant rag dolls, painting plaster figurines, calligraphy with a goose quill, as well as thematic lectures on folk folklore and other events.

The museum staff considers their main task to maintain its appeal for visitors who come to learn more about their native history and culture.
