The building at 76 Sovetskaya Street was erected in the 1870s, but the name of its architect remains unknown. This small structure stands out due to its facade, adorned with numerous stucco elements arranged in perfect symmetry against a light green background. The variety and precision of the geometric details amaze viewers, especially when they learn that the building originally served as an ordinary pharmacy. The rich decoration of the facade was a thoughtful marketing move to attract customers.

The pharmacy, owned by the German-born pharmacist Karl Haken, is one of the oldest in the city and has retained its function during the Soviet years.

At the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries, the building was restored. Currently, it houses the Department of Culture of the Tambov Region Administration.
