Andreevskaya Church, also known as the Church of Andrew the First-Called, was built by Cossacks from wood in 1646. A century later, in 1740, merchant and philanthropist Abraham Sumkin began the construction of a stone church on the site of the old wooden one. Just four years later, the church opened its doors to parishioners. Ten years later, the temple received an extension, and in 1806 it acquired its modern appearance. In 1818, the church was surrounded by a stone fence.

After the revolution, the priests serving at Andreevskaya Church were shot, and the temple was used as a garage for a long time. Today, it is hard to believe that tractors and combines were once repaired in this holy place.

The revival of the temple began in 2001 when a public organization sought help from the archbishop. After the restoration of the shrine, residents of the city and tourists can touch the centuries-old history and culture. Guests from other countries note the spirit of antiquity of the church, and the very fact of the restoration of churches in Tobolsk emphasizes their value for modern society.
