Altai District Local History Museum

Фото 1
The Altai District Local History Museum is located in a building that is an architectural monument known as the "House of the Forester" and is over a hundred years old. This museum can rightly be considered a people's museum, as its collection was created thanks to the residents of the district, who generously donated over 9,000 exhibits to the museum's fund.

The history of the museum began with the initiative of enthusiastic lovers of history. In early 1964, Yevdokiya Andreevna Tarasova and Vitaly Yakovlevich Krechetov, history teachers, started collecting materials on the history of the district, communicating with locals and working in the State Archive of Altai Krai.

The museum has 8,400 items in its main collection. The exhibitions and displays, located in 10 halls, are regularly updated, attracting both local residents and visitors to the area. The museum is included in the Small and Large Golden Ring of Altai Krai and is part of the cross-border tourist route "The Great Silk Road," which is why the number of its visitors is constantly increasing.
