Admiralty Square was solemnly opened on September 7, 1996, in honor of City Day and the 300th anniversary of the Russian Navy. In memory of the creation of the fleet, a rostral column and a triumphal arch were installed here. The design of the square was developed by architect A.I. An in the workshop of the chief artist of the city, A.M. Yanovsky. The complex of the square includes the Assumption Admiralty Church, built in the late 17th century.

The name of the square is connected to the fact that the first Admiralty in the country was built in Voronezh during the reign of Peter the Great. In 1696, the emperor began the construction of a military fleet here, and soon the first ship was launched. Later, this place was reconstructed.

The square, arranged on the site of the old shipyard, has preserved its historical connection and received the name Admiralty. The design of the square is executed in a maritime and shipbuilding theme.
