2nd Mitinskoye Settlement

Фото 1
The residents of the second Mitinskoye settlement, which existed in the 16th and 17th centuries, witnessed the tragic events of the Time of Troubles in Russia, occurring from 1598 to 1613. Not far from these places, in 1608 and 1609, was located the famous "Tushino Camp" of the impostor False Dmitry II. Thus, the population of the second Mitinskoye settlement was directly connected to one of the most vivid pages in the history of the Russian state.

The second Mitinskoye settlement was discovered in 1991 by A.V. Trusov. The results of his excavations in 1991, as well as the excavations by A.G. Veksler in 1992, revealed the remains of three ancient structures and numerous finds characteristic of settlements from the 16th and 17th centuries: fragments of white clay pots, black-glazed and stained jugs, red clay vessels, an iron knife, and an iron chisel. In areas of the settlement damaged by agricultural and construction activities, fragments of vessels from the 12th and 14th centuries were found, which may indicate that the settlement existed in this location even during the pre-Mongol era.
